‘I can’t think straight’ Best Feature Film at the Gran Canaria International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival The film by Shamim Sharif turns into the great winner together with ‘A domicilio’, by the Spanish director Mariel Maciá, who won Best Short Film
The films about lesbian thematic ‘I can’t think straight’ and ‘A domicilio’ turned into the winners at 4th Gran Canaria International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival alter winning the prizes for the Best Feature and the Best Short Film, given in the Closing Ceremony. The come together, at the Auditorium of the Island Toursim Center at the Yumbo in Playa del Inglés, was a sign of the sweet moments which movies about lesbian issues are going through, collecting four out of five prices. To the best films’ prizes, Best Actress (Sheetal Sheth for her interpretation in “The World Unseen”) and the “Proyecta Diversidad” Statue were added. The last one went to “Itty Titty Bitty Comittee” for “its vigour defending the equalty of rights and the duties of each and any person”, according to the jury. Audience and critics agreed with the jury to name ‘I can’t think straight’ Best Feature Film. The film was premiered on the inauguration night and received big ovations at the end of the screening by the spectators that crowded the theatre. The Jury pointed out “the tenderness” which is released by the film and the excellent “chemistry” between the two main actresses.
